Blackburn Rovers 94-96: Defending title holders Blackburn Rovers were issued with PL code "04". Blackburn received 18 Sculpts who were; Alan Shearer, Chris Sutton, Colin Hendry, David Batty, Graeme Le Saux, Jason Wilcox, Robbie Slater, Kevin Gallacher, Mike Newell, Paul Warhurst, Stuart Ripley, Tim Flowers, Tim Sherwood, Ian Pearce, Mark Atkins, Bobby Mimms, Alan Wright and David May. These players were all created in the 93/94 Seasons kit with the white collar, however there were a few changes before the final planned 18 were cemented.

There was actaully two Jason Wilcox made. One was for the England 95-97 squad and the other for Blackburn. Kevin Gallacher also recieved two differing sculpts although the aterations are minor and mainly it's his hair that was changed. This was due to his planned sculpt for Scotland.

Alan Wright and David May moved to Aston Villa and Manchester United before the start of the 95 season, Lars Bohinen (sculpted for Nottingham Forest) was a replacement for Wright and newly sculpted Henning Berg replaced May.

Mark Atkins and Robbie Slater were sold just before the 95 season. Jeff Kenna had already been sculpted for Southampton and replaced Atkins, whilst Matt Holmes was just switched with Robbie Slater. Intrestingly, both Holmes and Slaters' poses were altered. What's odd is that Holmes was given Pose No.4 for Blackburn meaning he did not clash with anyone else in the Blackburn squad even though his West Ham pose would have avoided that anyway. However the same cannot be applied to Robbie Slater, you can read my West Ham write-up here.

Despite having a full 18 player set, only 13 were released with Coritnhian settling on; Shearer, Sutton, Hendry, Le Saux, Wilcox, Newell, Flowers, Batty, Kenna, Ripley, Sherwood, Warhurst and Gallacher. Narrowly missing out due to production volume were Berg, Holmes and Bohinen. These players were released later on albeit in the 96-98 kit. Ian Pearce and Bobby Mimms missed out entirely. We also never saw Mark Atkins. I've yet to find any Tool Masters of these three players so they are the rarest of all the Blackburn figures with only one Model of Bobby Mimms ever photgraphed. (For Atkins and Pearce please read the section about away kits below)

There were two more late additions to the Blackburn squad, that being Garry Flitcroft and Ray Harford. Flitcroft moved from Manchester City and had a 94-96 Master Model made, although he did not make the switch in time to have his Blackburn model produced and instead was released in the 96-98 kit. I've listed Ray Harford on this earlier Blackburn page because he took over from Kenny Daglish during this period although I can only find info that his release was always planned for the 96-98 Seasons, unfortunately this never came to be despite his Master Model being made.

Away Kits: Corinthian never released any of their Blackburn players in an away kit. They do differ to most of the other Premier Leagues sides though because they own the title of being the only team to receive two versions and also the earliest example of an away kit (if you discount England/national sides). Thier 94 away kit recieved 14 masters models, including the likes of Atkins and Pearce which may be the reason these are so hard to find as I believe that any secondary figures in the home kit were repainted. I don't know why Corinthian went to the lengths of creating these models. It could have been that the idea of producing away kit versions was in its infantcy and these figures were just what was at hand during the time. Without being able to examine them I cannot say if they were overpainted or not. I also don't know if this was a planned released, maybe some kind of "Celebration title pack" for winning the title or even a commissioned purchased? Everything I'm suggesting is complete speculation and should be disregarded because at the end of the day, all I have is this promotional photo and nothing else. If you happen to be the owner of these models then I'd love to hear from you and any further information you can provide.

Their new 95 away strip was applied to 6 figures of which Shearer and Sutton received doubles. The remaining 2 were allocated to Colin Hendry and David Batty. I'm pleased to report that these model have survived which is the only reason I've manage to provide any information on them. It's been very difficult to track all away kit Master Models down as I've no production notes, only what collectors have been able to relay from either memory at Conventions or owning the models themselves.
